Rafi saab was the chosen one not to be replaced by anyone in singing whatso ever.He as a human nd singer was unsurpassed nd unparalleled. I feel proud to share with all of you that I was very very fortunate enough to have met the Legend at a recording with dad.Whem my dad Hasrat introduced me to him Rafi saab kissed my forehead nd gave me his Dua. I feel on top of the world when I hear most of his songs super duper hit songs rendered by this Great man. A feather in Dad's cap was when Rafi saab chose Dad to en down a "Doli" for his daughters wedding which dad did soulfully nd beautifully.

Have you noticed that very often—and across various platforms—when Mohammad Rafi’s name is mentioned, it is mentioned along with his qualities of humility and large- heartedness? That’s perhaps because wealth and fame do not usually travel together with humility and large-heartedness. When composer Pyarelal speaks of the singer, he recalls just how broke he and his partner Laxmikant were, when they wanted to record Rafi, but had no money to give him for that song. Rafi not only sang for them, he put an envelope of 500 Rs in their pockets before leaving the studio that day.

Mohammed Rafi is to remain as one most melodious creation of Allah, ad infinitum! For many the name may conjure up Musical Melodies Reams and reams have been written about his singing prowess- which never was ever in doubt. People all over the World went gaga over his singing. Hosannas have been written about his voice - the range -the modulating ability , his versatility to adopt his voice to different actors etc. etc. But for me his name gets associated automatically with Philanthropy - Charity - Benevolence . He literally practiced the idiom that charity should be done in such a way that the giving hand should be hidden from the other hand although he started his life in poverty, he didn't let the later success go to his head and bloat his Ego . If there is one person , who remained grounded even after his stupendous success and popularity- it is Mohammad Rafi.

Mohammed Rafi, the greatest singing sensation of Indian Cinema is still fresh in memories of Indians world-wide of his golden voice. Even 38 years after his demise, he continues to be revered for his gentle calm demeanour who always remained a humble, selfless, ego-less, devoted, god-fearing and family loving gentleman throughout his life. Rafi was known to never send anyone he met back empty-handed, he contributed to the society and helped people through his charity and notable deeds. Most of his unreported acts of charity came to light after his demise when such benefactors would come to his house in Bandra seeking their share of silent charity only to learn that the great soul is no more. Such was his magnanimity to silently give away large portion his earnings to the needy.

24 th December is birth anniversary of singing genius Tansen MOHAMMED RAFI SAHAB. Even 38 years after his death, tribute concerts for Rafi Sahab all over the world still draw a full, emotion- packed house. Bounteous grace and purity of that voice - Mohammed Rafi Sahab, lives on in millions of hearts, whom the incomparable crooner's aficionados are frenzied a lot. There is not a single day that goes without listening to this majestic divine voice. INDEED, THIS IS THE RAFI SAHAB AGE. Many singers will survive a few generations and will soon be forgotten in the dust of the past, but this God sent singer is really a higher force that is here to stay, so long as human-kind exists.

Music is the balm for the human soul. In turn it inspires, soothes the troubled soul, makes us plumb the depths our divinity, arouses the patriot in us, warms us up to the magic of love, and much more. All these qualities I found embodied in Mohammed Rafi, India’s legendary singer. As a child, since mid-40s I have been cast under the magical spell of Rafi Saheb’s golden voice. He resides even today in the hearts of millions of fans in India and all over the world. For me he also embodies the very idea of an inclusive India. He was above cast, colour or creed. His songs in Baiju Bawra, like ‘O, duniya ke rakhwale’ or ‘Man tarpat hari darshan ko aaj’, and his qawalis, ghazals etc. stand as a testimony to the greatness of all embracing Indian culture.

He is no ordinary man who is revered and venerated by millions over the world, not only for his unmatched singing talent, but also for his deeper qualities of compassion, generosity and humility. He is no ordinary human being who inspires his worshippers to emulate his unadvertised acts of goodness even 38 years after his passing on. Rafi saab lived his life impeccably, giving of himself in every way. He sang with his heart and touched his listener's soul. His soft spoken voice and reassuring smile brought cheer in many hearts. He gave of his wealth and made others rich. His concern for others' welfare he transformed into kind deeds. He provided for and protected his family and they treasure this dearly as the hallowed wealth that he left behind.

My feelings as devotee of farishta Rafi Sahab " I was hooked to the melodious voice of Rafi Sahab since 55 years or so . Perhaps from the first song " Teri pyaari pyaari soorat ko " heard in the radio in early 60' s . The craze for this divine voice became so enormous that I don't watch any film where his song was not there including " Sholay " which was watched by all .But when I heard from magazine interview of his beloved wife Bilquis Abba ji that Rafi Sahab himself watched Sholay 3 times , I watched the film in 2001 . Those days vividh Bharati n Radio ceylon used to play lilting songs of the golden era comprising of almost 80% of the songs of my idol .

Rafi Saab, an Angel who decended on Earth and sang his way into our hearts and his own heart was Supremely Compassionate. His Vocal Contribution transcends words and mesmerized millions and his acts, his Character have left an indelible impression in our minds. He was indeed an inspired creation of the Divine. A Sublime fragrance lingers in the hearts of those whose lives he touched

रफी साहब की शख्सियत इंसानियत मानवीय संवेदना गरीबों समाज हित के लिए उनकी सोंच को दर्शाती संगीतकार नौशाद साहब की बताई ये बात ही काफी है -'रफी साहब को किसी शो के लिए अमेरिका जाना था एक दिन मेरे पास आये बोले अमेरिका जाना है वहाँ से ऐसा क्या लाऊँ जो गरीबों के काम आये मैने कहा अरे वाह ईशाअल्लाह मालिक आपको बरकत दे डायलिसिस मशीन ले आइए किसी अस्पताल को दे दीजिए उन दिनो इंडिया में या तो थी नहीं या गिनी चुनी दो एक (बताते चलें तब सेलेब्रिटीज़ गायक एक्टर जब विदेशी दौरे पर जाते तो वहाँ से अपने यादगार के लिए मंहगी मंहगी चीजें लाया करते) किसी वजह से शो कैन्सल हो गया वो अमेरिका नहीं गये पर आदमी थे । नये नवेले गायक निर्माता संगीतकार को उनके संघर्ष के दिनों मे मदद करते रहते बिना तयशुदा फीस के गाने गा देते जो शगुन के तौर पर मिल जाता ले लेते संगीतकार निसार बज्मी जो उन दिनो नये और स्ट्रगलर कर रहे थे साहब की फीस नहीं दे सकते थे उनका गीत -चंदा का दिल टूट गया रोने लगे सितारे.. मात्र 1 रूपये शगुन के तौर पर लेकर गीत गाया ।
